Job Summary:
Canonical is looking for a marketing manager to develop and deliver marketing programs to support American organisations in their migration to more modern ways of managing their infrastructure and their software.
The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, technology marketing and the use of technology in marketing. They love to problem solve, get hands on, experiment, measure and use automation to make daily life easier.

As a Marketing Manager you will:

  • Be responsible for go-to-market planning and execution
  • Plan, implement, measure and improve campaigns: launches, lead generation, sales generation, awareness...
  • Put systems in place, monitor and report on effectiveness of marketing activities
  • Organise events
  • Organise webinars
  • Work on paid and social media promotion
  • PR / AR coordination with Comms manager
  • Create and publish content (online and print) in line with marketing plans to deliver on campaigns

The successful Marketing Manager will have :

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing / business / computer science and supporting qualifications
  • A strong work ethic, and personal interests aligned with the field of technology.
  • Proven analytical skills, and ability to assess opportunities and make decisions on ROI/advantages of programs & investments.
  • Track record of delivering strong results and innovation in the technology area (ideally with some IoT experience).
  • Growth mindset - someone who is not afraid to think big and take on risk.
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves.
  • Hands on experience with Salesforce and Ad platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to write about technology and the tech landscape.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a self-starter, fast-paced and changing environment

As our Marketing Operations Manager, you will build, maintain, and improve a robust marketing machine that creates engaging experiences for multiple audiences and connects our marketing investments to clear business outcomes. As the owner of our marketing tech stack, you will own the implementation and efficacy of campaigns, workflows, data, reporting, and analytics that impact marketing investments and results.
Karat’s HQ is based in Seattle, Washington, but we are open to remote candidates for this role (within the U.S.).

Core Responsibilities
Own it
  • Be the technology and data specialist. Maintain marketing technology, use it to launch and run campaigns, and ensure it generates accurate reporting and analysis. You'll use Salesforce, Pardot, Demandbase, Qualified, Wordpress, Google Analytics, and AdWords -- and more tools as we grow!
  • QA, execute, and analyze campaigns. Work with marketing and product on email campaign development, landing page development, segmentation, maintaining GDPR and CAN-SPAM compliance, data hygiene, various integrations, and reporting.

Be a partner
  • Deliver reporting, analysis, and strategic insights. Build and maintain dashboards and reports that cover key quantitative results like website behavior, lead velocity, pipeline velocity, website conversions, and impact of program spend
  • Build processes and optimize them to meet strategic objectives. Support marketing, sales, and finance with clear training and documentation related to the marketing tools and applications, campaign management, and reporting. Develop workflows, assignment rules, lead efficacy, and data hygiene needed to support marketing strategy and day-to-day performance management reporting

Create the future
  • Lead projects that connect multiple teams through marketing technology. Collaborate with multiple teams on projects that may include the selection and adoption of new tools and technologies, while remaining accountable to the project’s success.

About you
  • 5+ years in a technical marketing operations role
  • You have experience at an inbound agency an/or within the marketing team at a B2B/C technology company
  • You put the audience first, thinking of their experience with every email, every chat, every webpage as an extension of the brand
  • You curious, with a strong desire to optimize for the ideal business outcome
  • You are able to communicate across all levels in the organizations, starting with the “why”, and being clear about the details

We started Chameleon after being frustrated at poor user onboarding; where as a user you had to go watch videos, book a call with sales, or read a bunch of docs to figure stuff out. We wanted to make that process smoother, more interactive, and embedded within the product.

And that's what we do: we offer a range of products/patterns to help our customers onboard users, announce features, nudge and prompt, collect feedback etc. Our mission is to help other software teams better enable "self-serve" experiences for their users.

We were early in this "product-led" or "product-first" movement, but as more companies realize the need for software like ours, we've seen healthy growth. Our ads budget is growing, as is the sophistication of our inbound marketing stack.

We now need a Growth Marketer to join our team to take on this piece of the engine, and super-charge our growth through paid channels, and optimizing conversion funnels.

You'll be a critical member of our team and foundational in taking us from 1 to 100. This role is a great fit if you're smart, data-driven, rigorous, creative, and hungry, and want to use the strong foundation we have to build an impressive growth machine.

What you will do specifically
Your mandate will be to materially increase ToFu traffic (sign-ups and demos) including:
  • Own (manage, improve, execute) our paid advertising strategy and campaigns
  • Run tests to optimize (CPA for) existing channels, and explore new channels, of acquisition
  • Develop landing pages, assets, micro-sites, lead-gen campaigns, in collaboration with wider marketing team, to drive web conversion
  • Monitor, analyze, and report campaign and project performance (incl. creating dashboards)
  • Writing excellent copy for campaigns (ads, landing pages etc.)
  • Support product marketing efforts, such as launch campaigns, creating collateral etc.
  • Find and engage freelance talent as necessary (e.g. for animations, videos, assets etc.)

Skills and experience that will aid success in this role

  • 2+ years experience as a Growth Marketer, or similar (running data-driven paid campaigns)
  • Strong understanding of and experience with Facebook Ads and Google Adwords (including search and display ads, retargeting etc.)
  • Prior ownership/management of minimum $10k / month ads budget
  • Data-forward approach; comfortable with doing numerical analysis in Sheets, creating reports in Mixpanel (or similar analytics tool) etc.
  • Experience with all parts of a SaaS conversion funnel; SEO, content marketing, landing page building, copywriting, and CRO techniques.
  • 1+ years of startup (<50 employees) experience
  • Knowledge of the B2B SaaS marketing world, including common and innovative tactics
