How You Will Make An Impact 
  • Coach learners 1:1 in developing or honing leadership skills that may be contributing to, or hindering their overall leadership effectiveness, and determine ways of enhancing, or changing, behavior in critical factors of leadership success
  • Assist mid-level managers and emerging leaders (not Executives) in outlining a plan that supports them in unlocking their unique  leadership potential 
  • Apply exceptional communication, analytical, client service skills to facilitate engaging virtual sessions with a Skills-Based Coaching approach for tangible behaviour change 
  • Thoughtfully and intentionally prepare for coaching sessions, tailoring curriculum to suit learner’s individual needs; prepare valuable and comprehensive post-session feedback; provide reading or activities to bolster learning and skill growth
  • Demonstrate integrity and uphold the highest ethical standards for conduct, client confidentiality, and privacy 
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends in the fields of coaching, leadership, and individual and organization improvement; Share best practices with other members of the Coaching Community 
  • Remain committed to independent professional development and continued craft mastery 
  • You not only relate to Lingo Live’s values (listed below), but you already use them in your own coaching practice


Your Journey Thus Far (Role Requirements)
  • Several years experience in a 1:1 Leadership coaching capacity, particularly high potentials, mid-level, and emerging leaders; Leading coaching circles or group facilitation is an asset
  • Proven familiarity with performance optimization, appreciative inquiry concepts, and approach with a strong preference for those who have competency in Skills-Based Coaching experience
  • Deep understanding of leadership and professional skills development and effective adult learning principles; 
  • Experience incorporating and debriefing at least one type of 360 Feedback Assessment and preparing comprehensive and impactful post-session feedback
  • ICF, IPEC, Integral accredited coaching certification, and/or substantial experience coaching leaders at multiple levels.; Strengths Finder or Enneagram certification is intriguing 
  • Understanding and appreciation of D&I concepts, inclusive leadership, cultural awareness with a global lens 
  • Familiarity and willingness to function in independent contractor model, accounting for both benefits and limitations 
  • Access to a reliable internet connection (for video conferencing), a confidential space for hosting client sessions via Zoom, and proficiency with Gsuite, Zoom (screen shares and video functionality), Slack, and other basic internet technologies.
  • Strong operational experience in business, tech, management, or the startup world is a definite plus

The Fine Print
Coaching professionals are contracted to deliver 45-minute 1-on-1 sessions via video conference and deliver valuable and comprehensive written feedback (no copy and pasting!) during a 15-minute feedback window after the session

Our Learners
A typical Lingo Live learner is a high-performing tech professional in software engineering, UI/UX design, management, marketing, or sales who either works in their nonnative language, usually English. The majority are intermediate or advanced speakers. Our learners are both highly specialized and highly driven. Lingo Live also has six other supplemental language programs: Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.   

Become a Coach

In order to register and be approved to provide your professional coaching services on our platform, Language and Communication Coaches must demonstrate the following:

  1. A proven history of impact in teaching, coaching, or management  (Associated higher education/certifications or 5+ years career experience),
  2. An articulate and curated approach to goal-setting and progress-tracking,
  3. An established skillset in designing situated, task-based learning experiences for their clients,
  4. Practice applying language and communication concepts to workplace performance, growth, and excellence.

If accepted for registration on the Lingo Live platform, the coach and Lingo Live will enter into an Independent Contractor Agreement.  Coaching opportunities on the Lingo Live platform are intended for independent business owners and freelance professionals who have an established presence as a teacher or coach independently of Lingo Live.  Contractors providing coaching services via the Lingo Live platform set their own availability and manage their own schedules. Learners can browse coach profiles and schedule directly at the coach’s indicated available times, or make a request to work with a coach outside of the available times listed, to which the coach can accept or decline the lesson.  Contractors can expect the size of their client base and quantity of services provided to correlate directly with their open availability, learner demand for their specific skills or expertise as represented on their coach profile, as well as their entrepreneurial efforts to build and maintain ongoing relationships with their clients (e.g. encouraging learners to become a regular client and commit to a fixed lesson schedule).  Coaches are not employees of Lingo Live, and as such are responsible for compliance with their local and federal tax and business laws as self-employed or independent business owners.

Are you an Outlier?

We are always exploring exceptional talent for our Student Math Specialist roles. During the next couple of months, we will be engaging top talent for possible upcoming opportunities within our Student Success team. We’re looking for a diamond in the rough! This candidate possesses exemplary customer service skills, administrative skills, problem-resolution skills, and has experience managing CRM databases. You possess a keen eye for details and are a self-starter. You will be the students’ main point of contact with the company, and their partner and guide through their educational experience with Outlier. You will support teaching and learning through non-instructional activities (i.e. Slack discussion channel management, time management support, etc.) and supplemental tutoring support.

This role reports to the Director of Student Success and is a remote contract-to-hire position. As a contractor, you will need to have access to a computer, webcam, and a stable internet connection.


What You’ll Do
  • Provide Calculus and Statistics Tutoring: effectively communicate difficult concepts in an easy to understand manner
  • Send course-related emails including introductory messages, assignment and exam reminders, and weekly updates
  • Serve as the main point of contact between students and Outlier
  • Articulate workflows and reporting to optimize day-to-day operational efficiency
  • Leverage tools and technology to scale communication and outreach
  • Organize and facilitate student discussion and study groups
  • Respond to student questions regarding course policies, regulations, and operation
  • Perform customer service duties, such as acknowledging student feedback, bug reports, and content issues, and passing these on to the appropriate parties at Outlier
  • Facilitate student satisfaction and student experience research by assisting in developing, sending, and collecting the results of online surveys
  • Answer questions about and aid in the process of course credit pre-approval and transfer
  • Be an advocate and a voice for the students’ perspective on the class in communicating with the rest of the company


Who You Are
  • A wiz in Calculus and Statistics
  • Customer support expert with 1+ years of experience in higher education
  • Possess excellent administrative procedures, practices, and time management skills
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups at all levels; well-developed problem-solving skills; experience in general office procedures/administrative support, equipment, and database management
  • Able to work independently, exercise good judgment and discretion, and maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrates strong attention to organization, detail, and follow-through
  • An outgoing, warm personality and enjoys engaging with students
  • Excellent communicator across email, social media, phone, and video conference
