Senior Associate Benefits - Retirement Programs
What you will do
Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for directing and planning the administration of Amgens 401(k) and non-qualified retirement plans including oversight of employee and employer contribution allocations and funding, plan reconciliations and audits, employee enrollment and terminations, compliance testing, and Form 5500 filing. Interacting closely with colleagues and senior management across multiple organizations, Payroll, record-keepers, and consultants regarding administration and plan designs, and to provide quality services to staff internally. Position will ensure that the plans are administered in compliance with plan provisions, applicable regulations, and auditing requirements.
- Daily administrative responsibilities surrounding Amgens 401(k) and non-qualified retirement programs; monitor compliance with plan provisions and resolve plan issues with established guidelines
- Serves as initial contact for Amgen HR/Payroll staff for general plan questions, education, and problem resolution based on plan guidelines and procedures
- Advises Amgen current and former staff, internal teams, and record-keepers related to staff demographic and contribution data issues, eligibility, and benefit distributions
- Conducts audits on on-going basis of plan contributions and participant demographic issues. Partners with management and record-keepers to resolve errors
- Regularly conducts and analyzes internal and vendor controls, service data provided by record-keeper, and monitors compliance reporting issues to management
- Manages annual audit, non-discrimination testing, reporting, government filings, and all legally required plan and participant communications
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures, interface with Accounting, Legal, and Payroll on key program initiatives and error resolutions
- Document and maintain in established Standard Operating Procedures format internal and vendor processes and procedures
- Look for ways to streamline administrative practices and recommend process improvements to management
- Implement new programs and administrative processes
- Participates in company-wide projects as needed such as M&A, RFP, Payroll integrations, and other Total Rewards projects

Basic Qualifications:
Masters degree
Or
Bachelors degree and 2 years of ERISA Benefits/Human Resources experience
Or
Associates degree and 6 years of ERISA Benefits/Human Resources experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 8 years of ERISA Benefits/Human Resources experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years demonstrated experience, competence, and accuracy in the administration and compliance of complex ERISA Benefits programs (i.e., 401k)
- Demonstrated Workday experience
- Demonstrated experience working with outsourced vendors such as record-keepers, auditors, and plan consultants
- Demonstrated customer service orientation
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional numeric and spread sheet skills (Excel)
- Exceptional acumen in data, analytics, detail, and accuracy
- Exceptional process-orientation approach with strong collaborative skills
- CEBS and/or QKA qualification

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $69,931 - $87,672.
